City and barangay officials, responders and educators attended the 6th Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Summit held at Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center, July 24.
This is one of the activities of Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month.
DILG central cluster head Evelyn R. Vista was invited to speak at the event. It was followed by the launching of Emergency Listo led by Annie Catherine Calderon, DRRM focal person and a lecture on Management of the Dead and the Missing by Senior Fire Insp. Vencie Jojo P. Aldeguer of Bago Fire Station.
With the theme, “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro para sa Tunay na Pagbabago”, the summit aims to improve the programs of the city on disaster prevention and mitigation, preparedness and response, early recovery and rehabilitation.
Also, currently on-going at City Evacuation Center is the resilience static display which showcases the equipment and capabilities of the Bago DRRM on effective emergency response.
Information education campaign (IEC) materials which are necessary during calamities and disasters and prepared by City DRRM are also on display.
Additional attraction at the venue are the art works of high school students who participated in the mural painting contest held in line with the disaster resilience month last July 19.
The team from Ramon Torres National High School-Main was declared the first place winner followed by Ramon Torres Dulao National High School and Ramon Torres Ma-ao Sugar Central National High School which settled for second and third places, respectively.
DRRM Action Officer Dr. Merijene Ortizo is inviting the public to visit the display until July 29 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.*(NDB)
