Bacolod: SP commends MassKara dancers’ Italy performance

Bacolod City – A resolution congratulating and commending the Bacolod MassKara Festival dancers from Barangay Granada for their splendid performance during the Kalayaan 2024 Celebration in Milan, Italy recently, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod during this week’s regular session.

The resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said the Sangguniang Panlungsod on several occasions has been paying tribute to outstanding Bacolodnons for their commendable performances that bring pride and honor to the city.

For the first time, Bacolod City has participated in a cultural event in Europe, through the performance of our MassKara Festival dancers during the commemoration of the 126th anniversary of the Philippine Independence held in Milan, Italy last June 29 to 30, it said.

The Filipino community in Northern Italy trooped to the sprawling Parco Indroscalo in Milan, to witness the cultural program and concert, and to enjoy the offerings of booths showcasing Filipino cuisine and iconic Philippine products, the resolution added.

During the opening ceremony on June 29, and during the parade and cultural program on June 30, held at Parco Idroscalo, the audience and spectators both Filipinos and foreigners, applauded the performance of our MassKara Festival dancers as they stood and cheered in awe of the choreography, colorful costumes, headdresses, and props, while many were taking photos and videos, it said.

The Bacolod MassKara Festival dance team that performed in Milan is composed of Jasper Mae Diocson, Relizen Jane Rafael, Joey Conlu, Jim Delgado, Roxan Cabrillos, Joedem Casabuena, Mark Philip Lamirez, Joenel Bunenventura, Kate Redimo, Richard Lopez, Romnick Rafael, and Denver Diocson, according to the resolution.

They deserve to be recognized for their countless hours of practice, talent, creativity and amazing dedication to their craft, it said.

The resolution said the MassKara Festival dancers’ participation in these international events not only highlights the hard work and dedication of the dancers but also demonstrates the Bacolodnons’ world-class talent and creative excellence. (Chrysee Semillano via The Visayan Daily Star)
