Bacolod secures sustained smart city status

Bacolod City – Bacolod City secured a total of four awards in the Level 3 category of the Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities Program Awards during the awarding ceremony in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

The four Bacolod initiatives that were recognized were the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program; the Green City Project; the Mobile Command Center; and the @LPHA Accelerator Hub.

The city became the only Local Government Unit from the Visayas and Mindanao regions to be recognized in the Level 3 category of the Sustained Smart and Sustainable Community Awards.

Bacolod now stands alongside Baguio and Cauayan City in achieving this level of recognition across four major initiatives.

The Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities Program Awards in the Philippines is organized and spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology.

The program aims to promote and recognize the transformation of Philippine cities through science, technology, and innovation.

The city received the award during the 2025 National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week Awards at Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. (Theresa Mae Dulman via tvds)
