Bacolod City – The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) in Negros Occidental supports a proposal by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to set up a task force against vote buying during election period.
Reverend Fr. Chris Gonzales, who also heads the Diocese of Bacolod’s Social Action Center, said the Comelec’s proposal is a great idea as it will further prevent vote buying.
He claimed that vote buying is the “devil’s work” and he urged the public to treat their votes as “sacred,” pointing out that such form of democracy is not available in other countries.
Gonzales also urged the public to treat their votes seriously, as everyone’s future depends on it.
The PPCRV is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-profit organization affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines.
