Bacolod City – A few days before being placed under the supervision of the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region, the operational capability of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) got a boost from the Police Regional Office 6.
On March 24, P/Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, led the ceremonial turnover of new logistical equipment to the different provincial and city police offices in Region 6, where NOCPPO and BCPO were among the recipients.
With the activation of PRO NIR on March 27, which is to be presided over by Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City, the NOCPPO, BCPO, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor Police Provincial Offices will be under the supervision of PRO NIR.
NOCPPO was among the recipients of 294 units 5.56mm basic assault rifles: 124 Dasan, 146 Galil, and 24 Emtan; as well as 216 rounds of .40mm ammunition, 21 night vision monoculars, 170 enhanced combat helmets, 45 handheld radios, 1,750 raincoats, and 1,016 life vests.
The BCPO also received five motorcycles.
Troopers of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 6 who are presently assigned in Negros Occidental, will be among the personnel of RMFB Negros Island Region, according to Wanky.
Wanky thanked Camp Crame for further boosting logistical requirements of PNP units in Region 6.
On Tuesday, Wanky, assisted by P/Col. Rainier de Chavez, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, led the inauguration of new police stations in Isabela and La Castellana.
In a statement, Wanky said “this milestone is a result of the unwavering partnership between the PNP and local government units in keeping the community safe Negros Occidental.”
“Indeed, great things are possible if we work together. Let us not forget that the primary reason we pursue the construction of a standard police station building is to underscore the indispensable role of law enforcement and public safety services in the lives of the people,” he added.
