Bacolod: Hospitals given deadline to claim bivalent vaccines

Bacolod City – Provincial Health Officer Dr. Girlie Pinongan recently gave hospitals an August 4 deadline to pick up their supply of bivalent vaccines, otherwise, it will be given to local health offices.

The warning was made by Pinongan as Capitol managed hospitals, except the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, failed to pick up their supply of vaccines, despite her earlier advice for them to do so.

As of this time, Pinongan said only TLJPH employees in Silay City, Negros Occidental, were vaccinated by the Bivalent vaccines.

Health care workers have been prioritized in administering Bivalent vaccines, which can address also new strains of COVID-19.

Pinongan that the Department of Health issued new advice allowing the use of the Bivalent vaccines as booster shots for those who were not given first and second boosters.

“We are still waiting for additional Bivalent vaccine supply for senior citizens of the province,” Pinongan said.

The provincial government has received 390 vials of Pfizer bivalent vaccines containing six doses for each vial or a total of 2,340 doses, which is the total allocation for health workers in Negros Occidental. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
