Bacolod City – Serving more three years as governor of Negros Occidental, Eugenio Jose Lacson assured Negrenses that the provincial government will always be responsive to their needs.
While he did not mention specific programs he has lined up for the next three years of his term as provincial chief executive during his inaugural address next month, Lacson, however, said “I will continue to give even more time for service to Negros Occidental.”
He also expects the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to continue to be cooperative.
While belonging to rival local political groups, Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer ran as partners during the recent-concluded May 9 elections, as they also did in the 2019 polls.
“I feel, working as a team, is an ingredient to a successful second term,” Lacson said.
Majority of the elected mayors in Negros Occidental were also reported as Love Negros members, the party of Lacson, while others are affiliated with United Negros Alliance, where Ferrer served as president.
There are eight new mayors in Negros Occidental, including Madonna Jaojoco of Toboso, Narwin Javelosa of Sagay City, Javier Miguel Benitez of Victorias City, Joedith Gallego of Silay City, Lorenzo Suatengco of Pulupandan, Benjie Miranda of Kabankalan City, Ray Ruiz of Candoni and Daph Reliquias of Hinobaan.
On the other hand, Lacson lauded the choices made by President-elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. for his cabinet.
He described the Marcos’ choices as “very good,” especially those who will be leading the country’s economic cluster, who were selected based on their experience.
Lacson also believes the majority of the business sector are pleased with Marcos’ choices for his economic team. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
