Bacolod City – Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr. has created a transition team in preparation for the establishment of its regional field office for the Negros Island Region (NIR), Engr. Jose Albert Barrogo, officer in charge NIR regional director, disclosed recently.

Barrogo said the transition team is tasked to place an interim plan that would prioritize the organizational structure, to determine the most cost effective and economical way of assigning personnel, and the financial requirements needed for the operation of the agency’s regional office.

This will be submitted to Secretary Laurel for approval by December, he added.

Barrogo said they are targeting to have a temporary regional office in Bacolod City by January next year.

Aside from Barrogo, Alejandro Rafal has also been designated as officer in charge – regional technical director for operations and extensions, which took effect October 4.

Barrogo further said that they will establish an agricultural road map for NIR, through workshop planning, with the participation of all LGUs in Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.

The Department of Health has also designated Dr. Razel Nikka Hao as its regional director for NIR, while Atty. Marco Lionel Castillano was earlier named regional director of the Commission on Elections in the new region.

On the other hand, members of the DOH transition team met with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Bacolod City officials, regarding the establishment of its regional office in Negros Oriental, and satellite offices in Negros Oriental and Siquijor. (Gilbert Bayoran via tvds)
