Bacolod City – Power Watch Negros Secretary-General Wennie Sancho recently said that he will spearhead the campaign urging eligible CENECO consumers to claim the refund of their bill deposit, as provided in Art. 7 of the Magna Carta for Residential Electricity Consumers.

In his letter to Victor Rada, CENECO finance manager, Sancho disclosed that Power Watch Negros has requested for a certification from the Finance Department of CENECO to confirm the status and amount of bill deposit, classified as restricted fund, that should be deposited in a refutable bank.

In a statement, Sancho also said that Power Watch will establish a Refund Center to assist qualified consumers to commence the process by applying for the refund of their bill deposit.

This will be an opportunity for all consumers “who has paid his/her electric bills on or before its due date, for three consecutive years, to claim for a refund of their bill deposit,” he added.

The amount should be released within one month from receipt of such application, Sancho further said.

Power Watch believes that the bill deposit is our money and we have the right to claim what belongs to us. The amount will augment our meager income in times of adversity, he added. (Gilbert Bayoran via The Visayan Daily Star (TVDS), photo courtesy of TVDS)
