Bacolod City – The Bacolod City government sanctioned the IPM-Construction and Development (IPM-CDC) with a P1,068,000 fine recently, due to a series of violations in their contract.

According to the City Legal Office, headed by Atty. Karol Joseph Chiu, the penalties stem from violations, including their failure to provide shredders and an access to a Global Positioning System (GPS), saying that they want to proactively monitor the system.

“We just want to ensure that IPM will comply with their obligation in the contract and assure them the procedure and remedy based on our contract with them,” Chiu said.

Last Tuesday, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod City committee on environment and ecology, led by Councilor Homer Bais, held a committee conference with IPM-CDC, regarding their noncompliance with the contract.

“We will deliberate in the council, and release a recommendation to the executives on what we will do with the contract, considering that we’re already in the middle of 11 months. […] We should give justice to the P303 million of [the] people’s money,” Bais said.

The IPM-CDC is the city’s solid waste management contractor, with a contract amounting P303 million, which is set to run until December 2025. (Chrysee Semillano via tvds)
