Bacolod: 8 cases of fireworks-related injuries reported in region in 2 days

Bacolod City – The Department of Health in Western Visayas recorded eight new cases of fireworks-related injuries from December 25 to 26.

The cases are from four sentinel hospitals and health facilities in the eight provinces and highly urbanized cities in the region.

The number is 29 percent lower than the 24 cases from the same period last year.

Of the total number of injuries, four cases are blast or burn injuries and four are eye injuries.

The injuries were caused by boga (5 cases), 5 star (1 case), watusi (1 case), and three other fireworks.

No cases of fireworks ingestion and stray bullet injury were reported.
