Zamboanga del Sur – Philippine Army troopers encountered undetermined remnants of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) Mindanao Regional Guerilla Unit (MRGU) in a firefight in the vicinity of Barangay Guinlin, Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur around 5:00 AM on April 22, 2021.
Two NPA rebels were killed, identified as alias “Mathan” and “TIto” and alias “Nanang” who was wounded and captured.
The presence of the communist NPA terrorists was reported by concerned citizens who were cooperating with the government. “We are consistent in reminding the residents that they must not support the remnants of communist terrorist groups in order to continue the progress and development in their barangay,” 102nd Infantry “Igsoon” Brigade Commander BGen. Leonel Nicolas said.
