The Philippine Army’s 30th Infantry Battalion (30IB) members donated a portion of their May salary to help in response to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) efforts.

The AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) leadership heard the Commander-in-Chief during his televised address to the nation that the government will not have sufficient funds to deal completely with the massive impact of the COVID-19.

Lt. Col. Jeffrey A Villarosa, Commanding Officer of 30IB said, “We, in the 30IB share the burden in the nation’s fight against this COVID-19 pandemic. We believe that if we help hand in hand to address this crisis, there is a bigger chance to stop the spread of this virus. The people need to stay at home to help fight the COVID-19 while we are ensuring the peace and order in the province of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Island.”

On the contrary, the Communist Party of the Philippines – New Peoples Army Terrorists (CNTs) continues its demonic act in extorting money in the entire CARAGA amid the threat on the COVID-19. The CNTs even claim to be a second government, yet they have done nothing to extend help to the people and address the hunger of the poor; worse, they snatched relief goods like in Eastern Samar last April 7,2020.

“To the CNTs who claimed as a government, you should not take advantage of the situation to threaten civilians. Why can’t you just lay down your arms and be with your families? Stop your nonsense activities, and the trafficking of the youth. Stop your extortion activities, the people need food, medicines, and money not the demonic activities you continuously do.If you are truly the freedom fighters that you say you are, then I urge you to work with us to have a stronger and united country that will face this COVID-19 pandemic”, Villarosa ended.

Meanwhile, the 30IB encouraged the people to send information of any NPA presence or activities in their community. You may call or text us at the 30IB through our hotline numbers: 09173058172 and 09306255146.
