ENHORABUENA! Mercedita Gaballo of Barangay Tolosa, a certified kasambahay for 19 years was awarded as one of the Sampung Natatanging Kasambahay all over the Philippines by the Office of Senator Jinggoy Estrada during ceremonies held at the Senate in Pasay City last January 25.

Gaballo, 34 years old and a mother of 3 kids, is a kasambahay of a family in Barangay Zone III for almost 20 years. She is the president of the ZamPen Association of Kasambahay.

The Search “recognizes outstanding kasambahay or household workers not only in the service of their respective employers but sustaining their family basic needs as well.”

All 10 awardees received P30,000 each and Gaballo also received support for her carinderia business.

The awarding ceremony coincided with the 10th year anniversary of the passage of Republic Act 10361 or the Batas Kasambahay of 2013.

The City Government under the leadership of Mayor John Dalipe fully supports the implementation of the Kasambahay law and undertakes programs for the benefit and welfare of the kasambahays in the city. The city enacted City Ordinance No. 568 which institutes policies for the protection and welfare of domestic workers within the territorial jurisdiction of the City of Zamboanga.

The Department of Labor and Employment acknowledges its joint advocacy with the Zamboanga City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) on the establishment of the Kasambahay Desk to maintain the registration and database of kasambahay.

Congratulations Mercedita, the City Government led by Mayor Dalipe is very proud of you and of all the Kasambahays in Zamboanga for their contributions to Zamboangueno families as household partners!
