Zamboanga City – A total of 8,225 health care workers in Zamboanga Peninsula have been vaccinated for COVID-19 as of Saturday, 13 March 2021,according to the DOH Regional Office 9.
Zamboanga City registers the highest number of health care workers vaccinated at 3,369.
Medical frontliners in public and private health facilities as well as other frontliners related to health such as nursing aides, janitors and barangay health workers are the first in the list to be vaccinated.
City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite said the vaccination program has been rolled out in the city for those belonging to the A1 category under which there are sub-categories.
First inoculated were personnel from the COVID-19 Referral Hospital, Zamboanga City medical Center and other public hospitals followed by private hospitals catering to COVID cases.
Sub-category 3 are the quarantine and isolation facilities, 4 are remaining hospitals of uniformed services, 5 are government-owned community –based primary care facilities which include the City Health Office and the barangay health centers, 6 are the remaining health care facilities through the LGU and 7 are health care institutions and nursing homes.
The DOH through it’s Facebook identified the priority eligible groups into groups A, B and C.
Group A includes frontline health workers, senior citizens, vulnerable and co-morbid groups, frontline personnel in essential sectors both in public and private sectors including uniformed personnel, and indigent population.
Group B includes teachers and school workers, other government workers, essential workers, socio-demographic groups at significantly higher risk (other than senior citizens and indigent population), Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), other remaining workforce.
Group C includes the remaining Filipino citizens. (LGU Public Information Office)
