The 3rd Batang Surigaonon Trail Run: Run for the Watershed unfolded today, November 24, 2024, at Sitio Brazil, Brgy. Mat-i, gathering nearly 500 participants from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. This event combined the thrill of trail running with a powerful message of environmental conservation.

Organized by the City Government of Surigao through the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, Local Youth Development Office, and City Sports and Development Council, in collaboration with Surigao Ultra Runners and the Barangay Councils of Mat-i and Mabini, the trail run highlighted the critical role of watershed protection as a community priority.

Participants tackled the 5KM, 12KM, and 25KM courses, braving rugged trails and challenging weather conditions. Among them were City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II and City Councilors Joshua Geli, Karl Duane Casurra, Cacel Azarcon, Sebastian Nagas, and SK Federated President Jenelyn Edulzura whose active participation demonstrated their strong support for fitness and environmental advocacy.

Congratulations to all the participants and winners for their outstanding efforts in making this initiative a resounding success! See you at the 4th Batang Surigaonon Trail Run next year!
