32 Tired, Hungry Communist Terrorist Group Members Surrender During 52nd CPP Anniversary

Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Libertad, Butuan City – As the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) celebrates its 52nd Founding Anniversary, 32 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members left the armed struggle due to hardships and surrendered to PNP Caraga following an activity held here today, December 26.

The activity was spearheaded by POLICE BRIGADIER GENERAL ROMEO M. CARAMAT, JR., Regional Director Police Regional Office 13 (PRO13) together with Police Colonel ROGER L. QUESADA, Deputy Regional Director for Operations and Police Colonel MARTIN M. GAMBA, Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office Provincial Director.

The former rebels, who were composed of squad leaders, militia ng bayan and mass supporters of the CPP-NPA in the different areas of Agusan del Norte, have pledged their loyalty and allegiance to the Philippine Flag after they surrendered their firearms.

Among the firearms they brought were: 1 Sub Machine Gun, 1 M14 rifle, Ten Homemade Shotgun, 1 Homemade Handgun Chambered 12 Gauge Shotgun, 2 Caliber .45 pistol and 4 Caliber .38 revolver.

Highlight of the event was the burning of the CPP-NPA Flag and Effigy by the rebel returnees as expression of their withdrawal from the ruthless ideology.

In his Testimony, aka “Justin” said most of them were on so much hunger and distress at the time of their surrender and claimed that they were enticed to join in the armed struggle in exchange for helping their family, but realized that none of their promises was true.

The PRO13 top brass added that more people are fully aware on the truth that the CTG is just disguising as pro-people but involved in the commission of heinous crimes; and the cessation of people’s support to the CPP-NPA is the main reason why the enemies of the state are now losing their grip.

“Our government will not abandon you in the entire process as you build brighter future with your respective family. May your surrender inspire your colleagues to return to the government and abandon the world of terrorism. Let us work together and unite for the good of every Filipino citizen,” the region’s top cop stressed out.
