The Zamboanga City Blood Council in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga Chapter is conducting a Blood Donation activity at the Red Cross Training Center in Pettit Barracks 7 am to 4 pm today.
Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives!
The Zamboanga City Blood Council, chaired by Mayor Beng Climaco is pursuant to City Ordinance 336, enacted August 8, 2008. The Council’s vice chair is the City Health Officer with the SP Committee Chair on Health, Red Cross and ZCMC Blood Bank among others as members.
The City Government provides an annual subsidy of P3M for the Red Cross blood bank, to enable indigents to avail of the blood for free.
Blood is tested for Hepa A, B and C, HIV, Syphilis and Malaria before it is being transfused. This is the reason for the processing fee. (Cecil Abuy)Â
