A veterinary team dispatched by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central is conducting surveillance and sample collection of droppings of flying foxes perching on acacia trees downtown.
The team is closely collaborating with the Office of City Veterinarian Dr. Mario Arriola, as it conducts the activity at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) complex in Pettit Barracks and at the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) farm in San Ramon.
Surveillance and sample collection is done to diagnose and monitor diseases.
The team is composed of representatives from the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), PENRO Sibugay, CENRO Zamboanga City, OCENR and OCVET.
The surveillance activity was held December 12 and 13.
