ALZA Alayon Zamboanga Del Sur defeated Pagadian Explorers, 78-73, for its first victory after three victories in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup at the City Gymnasium on Wednesday in Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur.
Dennis Daa, 42, scattered 17 points, including a game-clinching trey at the final 12-second mark, to go along with seven rebounds and three blocks to give ALZA Alayon a 1-2 win-loss mark.
That Daa’s three-pointer pegged the final score for Zamboanga del Sur after Pagadian’s Mark Benitez muffed a three-pointer attempt in the dying seconds.
Eloy Poligrates added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Dan Sara filled the stat sheet with 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
ALZA Alayon took advantage of the Explorers’ 19 errors, turning them into 26 easy points.
Rich Guinitaran had 15 points, while Christian Manalo added 10 points but committed six turnovers.
Pagadian fell to 4-2, still at third place but with JPS Zamboanga just half a game behind at 3-2.
Meanwhile, Clarin stayed perfect at 5-0 after defeating short-handed Kapatagan, 76-65, behind Carlo Lastimosa’s 22 points on 6-of-9 from downtown.
John Wilson scored 14 points, eight rebounds, and four assists while Joseph Eriobu collected 13 rebounds plus six points for Clarin.
Kapatagan dropped to 1-5 record.
