Zamboanga city hosts 1st-ever ZamPen agri-industrial summit

Stakeholders from all over Zamboanga Peninsula converged in the city Friday, September 29 for the first-ever Zamboanga Peninsula Agri-Industrial Summit themed “Feast: Full throttle to Engage Agri-fishery sectors in Sustainable Transformation.”

The event, held at a local hotel in Gov. Camins was organized by the Regional Development Council led by Mayor John Dalipe and other concerned agencies. Agriculture Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban represented by Assistant Secretary of the Department of Agriculture Mr. REX Estoperez graced the event.

In his welcome message, Mayor John Dalipe expressed gratitude to the participants as he looked forward to productive outcomes and measures moving towards a stronger and vibrant Zam-Pen.

“Your participation already signifies your dedication and commitment in transforming our agriculture and fishery sector into more competitive and innovative industry. As this endeavor will help the region realize its vision of becoming the center of sustainable agri-fishery industry in the Philippines,” Mayor Dalipe said.

Highlights of the summit were the presentation of issues/concerns and agreements reached during the Pre-Summit Workshop, presentation of the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Development Plan 2023-2028, Open forum and turnover of Agri-fishery Situationer.

The summit culminated with the signing of the pledge of commitment where stakeholders vowed to work hand in hand with more vigor for the betterment of the Agri-industrial sector in this part of the country.

The event sought to identify issues and concerns confronting the agri-fishery industries in the region, and recommend actions/policies for the short term, medium term, and long-term implementation; identify possible sustainable large-scale agri-fishery production in Region IX, including support services such as power and water; and secure commitments from both the government and private sectors in Implementing the recommended actions.

Present during the summit were representatives from various agencies from the central office and regional office, RDC-9 officials, NEDA-9 and ZAMBOECOZONE, Local Chief Executives and Representatives from the Provincial and City Local Government Units of Region IX among others.
