The health caravan initiated by the Philippine Red Cross – ZC chapter in partnership with the City Health Office and with support from the Australian Aid was rolled out in Barangay Curuan, Tuesday, February 13, benefiting 718 indigent families.
The activity, held at the Sapa Manok Elementary School covered court served the residents of sitios Sapa Manok, Camp Pilar, Kandiis, Sibutad, Bagacay and Sitio 105.
Curuan barangay captain Joselito Falcasantos and some barangay officials graced the activity as they thanked the Red Cross and its partners for choosing their community as the recipients of the program.
Beneficiaries of the caravan benefited from free health consultation with medicines, vital signs-taking, blood typing, Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for adolescents, deworming and vitamin supplementation including the distribution of MX3 vitamins and supplements, and health and hygiene promotion specifically on handwashing.
Also made available were lectures on BLS/ First Aid and demonstration on disaster preparedness, hot meals (arroz caldo) sponsored by the Philippine National Police and Alavar Seafoods Restaurant as well as recruitment form Membership Accident and Insrance MAAB membership program, Red Cross 143 and medical corps.
Other organizations that also helped in the conduct of the event in Curuan were Tzu Chi Zamboanga, CHO, DOH,Pathfinder Pharmaceutical, Morishita Seggs, Tempra, Rite Med, Yakult Inc., Unilab, Trez Alas, Tesda, MX3, Crystal Clear Visiob and Bio Medis.
