Report on Apprehension of Suspect for Non-Fatal Stabbing Incident

On April 26, 2020, around 7:00 PM, while PSMS Cipriano Yordan, detailed in Lipata Ferry Terminal passed the San Juan National road from Surigao City Police Station, he chanced to notice a non-fatal stabbing transpired in P1-A Barangay San Juan, Surigao City. However, the suspect fled to unknown direction identified as Khent Galigao Ligalig, 28 years old, with live-in partner, self-employed, and resident of Purok-1A Barangay San Juan, Surigao City while the victim rushed to Caraga Regional Hospital identified as Robert Tautho Dumaquin, 20 years old, single, Palma employee, and resident of Purok-1A Barangay San Juan, Surigao City.

Investigation unveiled that around 6:45 PM of April 26, 2020, the victim bought the ounce of coke on a certain sari-sari store when the aforesaid suspect was from his boarding house having heated altercation with his live-in partner and without sufficient provocation the suspect stabbed the victim hitting on the right side of his abdomen and immediately fled after incident. Thus, the victim prompted to sought assistance to the duty Tanods stationed near the San Juan road.

According to the witnesses the suspect was wearing t-shirt with brown and gray combination and black short pant, blond hair, 5’6” in height and mestizo complexion. On that instance, the IOC together with the elements of Surigao City Police Station conducted hot pursuit operation.

Fortunately, PLT Niño Merza together with Barangay Washington Tanods accosted a certain male individual who happened to have been wandering at M.Ortiz Street, Barangay Washington, Surigao City wherein the residents thereat felt alarmed and suspected him as a thief. Thereafter, they brought the male person to this office for further investigation.

Duty investigator conducted investigation to the male person and confided that he is Khent Liagalig and he was just only fishing at the Surigao river adjacent to M. Ortiz, Barangay Washington, Surigao City. However, based on the description and name that fit to the fleeing suspect of the non-fatal stabbing incident.

Then, duty investigator brought the suspect to the Caraga Regional Hospital for confirmation to the victim. Then, the victim positively recognized the suspect as the one who stabbed him.

Thereafter, the suspect was arrested and duly informed of his Constitutional Rights as construed in the Miranda Doctrine to the language known to him and the nature of his arrest and the Anti-Torture Act.

Arrested suspect is now under the custody of Surigao City Police Station and filing of appropriate charges have been prepared through inquest proceeding.
