Suspected Rebels Killed Ex-Barangay Chairman In Ifugao

Suspected rebels killed a former barangay chairman, who was accused of being government supporter against the New People’s Army (NPA) in front of his wife in Tinoc, Ifugao.

Initial investigation conducted by Tinoc MPS state that three unidentified assailants killed Joseph Calabson, 47 inside his house at Barangay Tukucan on Monday.

Maya Calabson, wife of the victim revealed to the investigators that after having their snack the three suspects barged into their under construction house and after some conversation one of the suspects went out and as if talking to someone. The other two who were left inside suddenly pulled out their short firearms and started shooting the victim then the other suspect returned inside and shoot the victim several times.

Investigation further revealed that while the suspects were on their way out, they met Diana Domingo, the victim’s sister in law and one of the suspects pointed his gun at her forehead then they slowly walk away.

Police Investigators recovered four copies of a letter from the Nona del Rosario Command of the New People’s Army in Ifugao, allegedly accusing the victim of providing vital information to the government and “harboring” government soldiers in his house. They also accused the victim as abusive resident of Tukucan

Police also recovered cartridges, bullets of caliber .45 and a leather holster from the crime scene.

The wife and the relatives of the victim refused that the cadaver be autopsied.
