In a significant development for the local community, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) led by CSWDO Officer Lenie Liray, alongside Asst. CSWDO Officer Mark Caven Salazar, and CapBuild Officer Arvin Mike L. Avenido from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Sustainable Livelihood Program Surigao del Norte, convened with Orchid and Plant Vendors from Brgy. Cagutsan and Brgy. Manjagao, today, August 3, 2023.

The collaborative efforts of CSWDO and DSWD-SLP culminated in establishing an organization for these dedicated plant vendors, ensuring a structured collective overseeing their commercial endeavors at City Mall.

Under the personal initiative of City Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, a dedicated space has been thoughtfully allocated for these vendors at City Mall. This strategic arrangement provides a platform for these vendors to effectively showcase their diverse array of plants to the residents and visitors of Surigao City.

This organized entity signifies a pivotal step forward and paves the way for proactive engagement with the CSWDO. Facilitating preparatory measures and commendation, CSWDO will extend its support to facilitate the prospective approval of these enterprising plant vendors for inclusion in the DSWD-SLP.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) is a capability-building program for poor, vulnerable, and marginalized households and communities to help improve their socio-economic conditions through accessing and acquiring necessary assets to engage in and maintain thriving livelihoods.
