Surigao: Empowering our Barangay Tanods for building a safer community together

The City Government of Surigao through the City Peace and Order Council partnered with the Surigao City Police for a learning workshop to make our local barangay tanods even better at keeping us safe.

Ptr. Juan L. Ramos from Surigao Grace Community Church and PNP Advisory Group, CLGO Robert E. Patayon from DILG Surigao City, City Councilor Joseph Joey S Yuipco, OIC of the City Traffic PCPT Robert Paredes, PLTCOL Tessiel  R. Moleta of SDN PPO, Operation Coordinator  Edgar Y. Latras of Quick Action Response Team, and Pros Atty. Lyndell P. Alvarado was present and gave insightful discussions for our barangay tanods to remind them of their vital role in upholding peace and order.

The first batch of this seminar was attended by barangay tanods from island barangays in the city. The lecture included Traffic Enforcement and Education Awareness, Warrantless Arrest under Sec 5, Rule 113, rules on criminal procedure, Basic role of a First Responder, Preservation of Evidence and Arresting Techniques, Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness, and Protocols in Handling Gender-based compliant.

Our barangay tanods are everyday heroes. They help keep our neighborhood peaceful and safe. The seminar allowed them to do an even better job, making our city a better place to live.

The City Government of Surigao City and the City Peace and Order Council are committed to making sure our barangay tanods are always ready and equipped with the knowledge they need.
