The City Government of Surigao expresses gratitude to Ms. Genevieve Almonares and Mr. Nevin Dela Paz from the Department of Energy Philippines (DOE) following the successful conclusion of the 2023 Initial Energy Audit in the City Government of Surigao City as part of Surigao del Norte province.

This audit, a pivotal component of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP), aimed to reduce the city government’s monthly electricity and petroleum consumption by a commendable ten percent (10%).

Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II appreciates the DOE program, affirming Surigao City’s unwavering commitment to energy conservation. The city’s accomplishment in the initial audit underscores its dedication to responsible energy practices.

Mayor Dumlao underscores the importance of cultivating discipline among office personnel for economic electricity consumption.

Regular energy audits and spot checks have significantly raised awareness among government entities, inspiring the adoption of energy-efficient practices and resulting in notable reductions in fuel and electric utility services expenditures.

Guided by the Inter-Agency Energy Efficiency and Conservation Committee (IAEECC), mandated by Republic Act (RA) No. 11285, or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act, GEMP aims to cut the entire government’s electricity and fuel consumption by at least 10% through the implementation of energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) measures.

Surigao City’s proactive engagement in GEMP aligns with its ongoing commitment to sustainable practices, fostering a culture of energy responsibility.
