JUNE MAR FAJARDO had a bad hair day but swingman CJ Perez and Mo Tautuaa were there to fill the six-time Most Valuable Player’s big shoes as San Miguel Beer routed Terrafirma, 122-102, to go 3-0 won-lost in the Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup on Friday at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.

Perez and Tautuaa combined for 16 of San Miguel Beer’s 34 points in the fourth quarter—10 more than Terrafirma’s  output—to stay unbeaten for a share of second place with idle NLEX Road Warriors at second spot.

Fajardo wasn’t in his elements and finished with six points on a terrible 1 of 6 shooting, nine rebounds with six assists, way below his 18 points and 14.5 rebounds in their first two games.

He played for only 28 minutes.

Terrafirma led 21-19 after the first quarter until San Miguel Beer woke up in the second period to race to a 38-23 advantage behind import Cameron Clark and Allyn Bulanadi en route to a 57-44 halftime margin.

They Beermen never trailed after that.

“We’re not invincible and that’s always going to happen,” San Miguel Beer coach Jorge Gallent said. “They started strong and we started flat.”

The best thing about it is after three to four minutes, we just woke up and brought our San Miguel Beer basketball,” he added.

Clark led the Beermen with 31 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks, while Perez finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Tautuaa had 17 points and Bulanadi and Marcio Lassiter finished with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Terrafirma fell to 1-3 despite Jordan William’s 30 points, Juami Tiongson’s 20 points and Eric Camson’s 18 points.
