Sarangani hosts Mindanao leg of Little League Philippines

DAVAO CITY– Thirty-five teams are seeing action in the Mindanao qualifying round for this year’s Little League Philippines that starts Saturday at the Sarangani Sports Training Center in Sarangani. 

The 35 teams represent 14 delegations in the qualifiers bankrolled by former Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao.

The teams are coming from Valencia, Bukidnon; Gingoog City; Kidapawan City; Maguindanao Del Sur; Municipality of Malita, Davao Occidental; Maitum, Sarangani Province; Sarangani Province; Tacurong City; North Cotabato Province; Zamboanga Sibugay; Municipality of Aleosan, North Cotabato; Davao City; Maragusan, Davao De Oro; and Municipality of Medina, Misamis Oriental.

The qualifiers end on February 10, according to Alma Corazon Gabuat, Sarangani Provincial Sports coordinator.

The competitions for Little Leaguers aged 11 to 16 will be staged on five

Diamonds. 

The winner in the Mindanao will advance to the Philippine series in Isabela City, where the country’s representative to the Asia-Pacific Tournament will be selected.

KIamba (Sarangani) topped the junior and senior leagues held last year in Davao City.

One of the agenda of the administration of Sarangani Governor Rogelio Pacquiao is to create a culture of sports among his constituents.

The Sarangani Sports Training Center is a state-of-the-art facility which serves as a training ground for student-athletes of the Sarangani National Sports Academy or SaNSA.
