SANTA ROSA City stretched its winning run to three matches after blasting a Ranran Abdilla-less Philippine Air Force in three sets, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23, Friday in the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference at Paco Arena in Manila.

Abdilla is the league’s leading scorer with 107 points through six games but is out indefinitely because of a left knee injury he incurred while training for the national beach volleyball team

The Lions came back from 20-23 in the third set with five straight points capped by Jerico Adajar’s service ace to complete the sweep and improve to 3-4 won-lost.

“I told the boys to put heart into their game and to play intelligent volleyball,” Santa Rosa head coach Edu Lirio said “Volleyball is more of a mental game, rather than a game of strength.”

Yoyong Mendoza almost had a triple-double of 13 points and 10 excellent receptions with nine digs for the Lions, while setter Adajar got active with 13 excellent sets and nine points on four blocks and two aces.

JR Labrador and Edwin Tolentino picked up the offensive cudgels with 15 and 13 points, respectively, for the Airmen (1-6).
