RTF-ELCAC Endorses ₱160-M Projects For Cordillera

Baguio City — The Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) endorsed the priority programs, and projects of the identified cleared barangays under the FY 2021 Local Government Support Fund-Support to the Barangay Development Program (LGSF-SBDP).

During the First Quarter Cordillera RTF-ELCAC, a total of eight barangays in Cordillera that are already cleared pf Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) were included in the list of identified barangays under the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Local Budget Circular (LBC) No. 135, s. 2021: six in Abra, one in Kalinga, and one in Mountain Province.

Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for Cordillera and DA Secretary William Dar enjoined the cluster members to continue their support in effectively addressing issues and development in these barangays which are being exploited by the CTGs.

“We came into this task together in support of the national government’s massive campaign for sustainable development of the rural areas especially in barangays impoverished by the malignant presence of the CTGs,” he said.

Adding, “We sought to pursue our goals and objectives by bringing the government closer to the people and allowing them to actively participate in governance and community pursuits that affect them,” he said.

Noting, “As cluster members we must continue to work with everybody with the noble cause of peace and progress for our people,” he said.

Of the ₱ 160-M earmarked for the eight barangays, ₱ 108 million was allocated for Farm to Market Roads; ₱ 25 million for Water and Sanitation Systems;₱ 17 million for School Buildings; ₱ 8 million for Health Stations and ₱ 2 million for Agricultural, Livelihood, and Technical Vocational Training/Projects.

OIC-Regional Director Araceli San Jose of the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Cordillera said that the appropriated amount of ₱ 16,440,000,000.00 will be used for the implementation of various support programs of the 822 cleared barangays nationwide from 2016 to 2019.

“Let us ensure that the priority projects funded under the 2021 LGSF-SBDP of the eight barangays are implemented promptly and properly so that the communities will benefit immediately,” she explained.

The implementation of priority PPAs for cleared barangays aim to address existing governance and development gaps while promoting and sustaining peace and prosperity. (PMTG | DILG-CAR)
