Red flashing light glows at the new parola. This light station resumed operation last May 24, 2021 at the boulevard area near the PPA gate.
The original parola was demolished last February 24, 2020 after MARINA started their construction of a 3-storey regional office inside the PPA Compound fronting the IBP building at P. Reyes street. The City Government demanded its restoration and the Philippine Coast Guard with MARINA agreed to construct a replica of the original but repositioned it outside the port’s perimeter fence.
“This serves as navigational aid for mariners and fishermen especially at night and also guides vessels in safely entering and leaving harbors.
The Light Station Surigao flashes two red lights every 10 seconds with the following coordinates – LATITUDE 09° 47’ 01’’ North and LONGITUDE 125° 30’ 05” East.

“This is to ensure the safety of the public from untoward accidents and protect the structure from damages,” Commander Pangilinan explained.
