The Search, Rescue, Firefighting and Marine Patrol capabilities of PMO Surigao received a much-needed boost with the provision of a brand-new special purpose motor vehicle equipped with firefighting gear and a rescue boat installed with an outboard motor.
Through the concerted efforts of PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, PMO Surigao recently received a specially built Isuzu D-Max power truck installed with mobile firefighting equipment.
The said specially built Isuzu D-Max power truck installed with mobile firefighting equipment also includes a transport trailer for a rescue boat installed with a 50hp outboard engine with remote steering to power the craft through strong tides at sea, as well as during flooding situations.
The mobile rescue/firefighting system is also equipped with water tanks, various implements such as a bolt cutter, crowbar, and sledgehammers for use during rescue operations. The acquisition of said rescue/firefighting equipment includes training for PMO personnel. (RPN DXKS Surigao via Susil Ragas)
