No More RT-PCR Test For Those Fully Vaccinated Versus COVID – CHO

Zamboanga City – The City Health Officer has revealed that those individuals fully vaccinated with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine will no longer need the Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test to enter the city.

The City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor D. Miravite said, two weeks after they received their second dose, they can now be considered as fully immunized and there is no more need for the RT-PCR test.

RT-PCR test is the gold standard for Covid-19 testing which is priced at some P3,000. This is required to get in Zamboanga City.

Four laboratories are currently offering the test Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) laboratories, Philippine Red Cross Molecular Laboratory, and the containerized RT-PCR testing laboratory at the Ciudad Medical Zamboanga (CMZ) hospital.

During the test, a nasopharyngeal swab will be done with the use of long cotton buds inserted in the nose and mouth.

However, she said, for those vaccinated individuals exhibiting Covid symptoms, they need to be tested.

She said, in this city more than 3,019 medical frontliners in the A1 category have already received their second dose and now fully vaccinated.

Vaccines used to vaccinate these medical frontliners were Sinovac and Astrazeneca. (R.G. Antonet A. Go)
