Davao City  –  Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s team distributed additional assistance to affected families of a fire incident that happened on August 27 in Purok 13-A, Sunrise Village in Brgy. Panacan, Davao City. The distribution was done at the Phase 1 Covered Court of Mercedes Subdivision in Barangay Panacan, Davao City, in strict compliance with health protocols.

Dapat maging maingat tayo ngayon dahil sa COVID-19,” he said.

The Senator’s team distributed additional assistance through food packs, masks, face shields and medicine packs. They also gave away bicycles to select beneficiaries to help them in their commute to work. Go also provided tablets to some recipients to be used by their children for their blended learning.

The Department of Trade and Industry distributed Negosyo Kits, such as for sari-sari store, rice retailing and egg retailing, under the Pangkabuhayan para sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa Program, to 34 qualified beneficiaries. They also provided entrepreneurial training.

The outreach last Friday was a follow up distribution of assistance. Go, together with other concerned agencies, already visited the same community last August 28, the day after the fire incident, to provide immediate help and check on the condition of the victims.

During their first visit last August 28, Go and his team distributed food packs, cash assistance, medicine packs, masks and bicycles. The Department of Social Welfare and Development also already provided cash assistance and food packs. The Department of Health distributed hygiene kits while the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office provided medicines and multivitamins.  The Davao City Social Services and Development Office provided a mobile kitchen and food items.

Despite the pandemic, the Senator continues to reach out and extend much-needed relief to Filipinos affected by disasters and other crises.

The Senator also carried out a similar aid distribution activity for 47 fire victims in Brgy. Ilang in Davao City on October 14.
