Davao City – With the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive in Davao City, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte last Monday, March 22, assured that more individuals will be receiving the vaccines against the coronavirus disease.

“Atoang giingan ang vaccination cluster nga tanang ‘tong gi-allot, nadeliver na sa atoa ug kinihanglan nga ma-out na na tanan, mabakuna na tanan sa mga personnel nga anaa sa Priority 1A sa national vaccination program (We have instructed the vaccination cluster that all allotted vaccines will be out and will be administered to all personnel included in the Priority [Group] 1A of the national vaccination program),” Duterte said during her regular program on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio.

The City Government of Davao is currently negotiating and procuring jabs for the city, including those made by the British-Swedish pharmaceutical and biotechnology company AstraZeneca.

Duterte said that the city has secured 30,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from the tripartite agreement with the national government, which are expected to arrive in the third quarter of the year.

“Ang atong gi-procure nga vaccine kay ang AstraZeneca nga vaccine maker and ang commitment nila sa delivery kay third quarter (We have procured vaccines from AstraZeneca and their commitment is to deliver it in the third quarter),” Duterte said.

The local chief also said that Davao City will be receiving additional COVID-19 vaccines via the national government’s vaccine allocation by the end of March.

“The recent verbal agreement kay adunay dungag nga moabot nga vaccines by the end of this month but wala nagsulti unsay brand ug pila ka dose ang moabot (The recent verbal agreement was there will be additional vaccines that will be delivered by the end of this month, but it was not indicated what brand and how many doses will be allocated),” she added.

The city government has started its vaccination program in early March with the arrival of Sinovac vaccines in Davao City through the Department of Health Davao Region. More public and private frontline health workers, including some city government health workers were inoculated following the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination program of the city.
