Davao City:   Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has renewed her call to Dabawenyos to follow the four simple ways as their contribution to control the spread of the coronavirus disease in the city.

These four measures are staying at home, wearing masks whenever in public places which include going around the neighborhood, maintaining a two-meter physical distance from another person, and frequent handwashing with soap and water.

This as Davao City continues to record coronavirus cases since easing the lockdown and movement restrictions. As of June 26, based on data from the Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City has 112 active Covid-19 cases with 270 recoveries and 30 deaths.

“Kung mangutana ang mga tao kung unsa ang ilang matabang o mabuhat para ma-control ang transmission sa sakit nga Covid-19, mao na siya atong matabang. Very simple, easy to do, it’s not expensive and doable siya nga mga butang para sa atoa (If people ask how they can help or what they can do to control the transmission of Covid-19. That is how they can help. Very simple, easy to do, it’s not expensive and doable things for us),” Mayor Sara said in an interview the Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday.

Mayor Sara said that it is easier to kill the virus when one is practicing preventive measures than doing it when one is already infected.

She said that even going out to their neighborhood without masks is not safe to do.

“When we say public place, it means when you go out of your house. Dili ta magkampante nga kay silingan lang atoang kaistorya, dili na ta mag mask (We should not be complacent even just talking to our neighbors does not mean we should not wear masks anymore),” the mayor stressed.

Prevention is one of the six (6) pillars of Davao City’s response to fight against Covid-19 per the National Action Plan of the Inter-Agency Task Force, along with Detection, Isolation, Treatment, Reintegration, and Cremation. CIO
