To show the city’s preparedness for the Covid-19 vaccine rollout, Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro on Wednesday announced the opening of a Marikina City Mega Vaccination Facility that can vaccinate around 10, 000 per day.

“We will open the Marikina City Mega Vaccination Facility that can administer Covid -19 vaccine to around 10, 000 people per day,” Teodoro said of the mega facility located at the Marikina Sports Complex in Barangay Sta. Elena.

“We can vaccinate 10, 000 people in a day because we have 10 vaccination station at our mega vaccination facility here in the Marikina Sports Complex,” Teodoro added during the visit of the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) team in Marikina City.

In Marikina, the mayor stressed that it does not end with the vaccination, but the city will still continue to monitor them as the Marikina Mega Vaccination Facility has a monitoring facility intended for those who experienced adverse reaction in the vaccine, if there is any.

The transportation of the vaccine will not be difficult for Marikina’s cold chain facility is within the same radius of 100 meter from the storage.

Teodoro said Marikina City has three simple steps when it comes to Covid-19 vaccination: list the name of the person, validation, and screening process.

Likewise, the observation stage or the care monitoring is also important, Teodoro said.

In case of any advert reaction to the vaccine, Teodoro said the local government of Marikina has prepared an indemnification fund, about P5 million, for affected individuals.

The mayor said that he will sign an executive order or EO, creating the task force for the city’s vaccination program involving medical experts– immunologist, virologist, public health, infectious disease, pulmonologist to ensure that the residents can understand the safety and efficacy of the vaccine and explain other concerns.

According to the city’s random survey showed that most of Marikina residents want to get vaccinated.
