Land, sea travel to Visayas and Mindanao suspended due to Tropical Storm Bising

Due to the imminent threat of Severe Tropical Storm (STS) “Surigae” (Bising), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) suspended all land and sea travel, including those of fishing vessels, bound for Visayas and Mindanao via Matnog Port and all other ports in Region V starting 12 noon today, 16 April 2021.

The suspension was made upon the request of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region V, and as approved by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-Emergency Operations Center (NDRRMC-EOC).

The DOTr advised trucking/logistics companies and buses not to proceed or postpone their planned trips in order to avoid long queues at Matnog, Sorsogon, to Daraga, Albay.

Moreover, the DOTr ordered its attached agencies in the Maritime and Road Sectors, namely the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Land Transportation Office, (LTO), and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to immediately enforce the said travel suspension.

According to PAG-ASA, at 6:20 am today, Severe Tropical Storm “Surigae” has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
