The LGU Buhi, through the Public Employment Service Office, and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted the orientation and contract signing for the beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) – LAWA at BINHI program on March 24, 2025, at the Millennium Center. The program was held in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Office for Agricultural Services.
During the short program, Mayor Rey P. Lacoste expressed his gratitude to DOLE for granting LGU Buhi’s request for funding and reaffirmed his commitment to seeking more programs that will benefit the people of Buhi.
DOLE Camarines Sur Provincial Head Ma. Ella E. Verano also attended the program, highlighting DOLE’s various initiatives and its commitment to assisting marginalized communities.
The DOLE Regional Office approved the application of LGU Buhi for 400 beneficiaries, primarily farmers and marginalized fishermen, along with unemployed and underemployed individuals.
TUPAD is a DOLE program aimed at providing temporary employment to marginalized sectors. The TUPAD workers are expected to cultivate garden areas for 20 days, with the Office for Agricultural Services providing seeds.
“LAWA at BINHI” is a Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) initiative, short for “Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished.” It is designed to enhance community resilience against climate-induced food insecurity and water scarcity.
Each beneficiary will receive Php 7,900 or Php 395 per day for 20 days of work.
Meanwhile, on March 14, 2025, LGU Buhi conducted a payout activity for 1,000 TUPAD beneficiaries under a separate initiative, further demonstrating its commitment to providing livelihood support to disadvantaged workers.
