Team Arriba Iriga wasted no time making its presence felt at the 3rd Agila Cup, picking up two wins on the very first day of action.
The provincial sportsfest, organized by the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur under Governor Lray F. Villafuerte, formally opened yesterday, July 20, 2026, at the Fuerte Sports Complex in the CamSur Capitol grounds. Iriga City is among the local government units competing in this year’s cup, entering squads in the 16 Under Division, 40 Up Division, and Open Division.
The city’s athletes didn’t waste the moment. In the 16 Under Division, Iriga squared off against Baao and pulled away with an 82-67 win. Hours later, the Open Division squad stepped onto the court against Nabua and delivered an even more commanding performance, cruising to a 107-57 victory.
Mayor Rex C. Oliva led the city’s delegation at the opening ceremony, joined by Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Sports Consultant Engr. Solomon Ngo, and personnel from the Sports Development Office and the city government, all turning out to rally behind Team Arriba Iriga as the tournament got underway.
With two games down and more matchups ahead across all three divisions, Team Arriba Iriga’s opening-day sweep sends an early signal of the fight this squad is bringing to the 3rd Agila Cup.
