The City Government of Iriga paid tribute to its retiring employees during a heartfelt Retirement Gala, honoring decades of dedicated public service marked by quiet sacrifice, commitment, and love for the city. The event recognized eight mandatory retirees, four employees nearing mandatory retirement, one disability retiree, and six optional retirees—individuals who gave not just years, but decades of their lives in service to the city and its people.
Held last January 23 at the Iriga City Sports Center, the program was organized by the City Human Resources and Management Office (CHRMO) headed by Ma. Eloisa A. Jaim. The gathering reflected the Arriba Administration’s commitment, under the leadership of Mayor Rex C. Oliva, to give premium importance to employee welfare and to honor those who have long been part of the LGU workforce. The evening brought together Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, department heads and office chiefs, as well as the honorees’ families, friends, and representatives, all in formal attire.
In his message of gratitude, Mayor Rex C. Oliva sincerely thanked the honorees for their invaluable contributions, noting that every act of service, big or small, helped shape the city’s progress. He emphasized that even in retirement, they remain part of the Arriba Administration and the Iriga City family. Sharing a personal reflection, the Mayor expressed deep appreciation as a son of parents who also retired from government service. On behalf of the LGU, he awarded tokens of appreciation, including ₱20,000 for mandatory retirees, ₱10,000 for optional retirees, and plaques of appreciation.
Responding on behalf of the honorees, Ms. Segundina V. Egipto expressed heartfelt thanks to the City Government for the recognition and shared her experiences serving under six administrations. The program concluded with a warm toast led by Councilor Jor-El O. Caayao, Chair of the Committee on Reorganization and Internal Government, ending the evening on a note of gratitude, pride, and respect for a lifetime of dedicated public service.
