The plan of Gov. Noel Ebriega Rosal to ensure that farmers have sufficient fertilizers to boost crop yields in Albay has come into fruition.

This effort was supported by a recent courtesy call from the Department of Agriculture Central Office, along with the Albay Provincial Agricultural Office and the Governor, to discuss the state of agriculture and the situation of farmers within the province.

According to Governor Rosal, the discussion should include farmers’ productive output, the provision of fertilizers, and ways to overcome challenges related to their sufficiency.

In line with this, the governor held a meeting with representatives from the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) Bicol, DA, the Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC), and farmer sector representatives to discuss programs and plans for the Albay rice industry.

During the meeting, the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) allocated an extra P40 million in funds to increase rice production, including the purchase of fertilizers.

This initiative demonstrates the province’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector by addressing the needs of farmers.
