The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office V – Bicol Region, commences the ₱5000.00 Cash Relief Assistance distribution to support tricycle drivers in Sorsogon City.
A total of ₱9,295,000.00 worth of cash aid was distributed to 1,859 drivers in the city affected by the sudden increase in oil prices due the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The payout is set until April 9, 2026 at the Provincial Gymnasium to continue serving the remaining target beneficiaries.
This proactive move follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to provide immediate aid to the public utility vehicle drivers who are among the sectors whose livelihoods are greatly affected by the ongoing crisis.
Guided by Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Regional Director Norman Laurio is at the helm in ensuring the swift and efficient distribution of assistance which is currently being conducted simultaneously across the seven cities in the region.
