The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) is urging Bicolanos to adopt family planning methods to help reduce maternal mortality and prevent unplanned pregnancies in across the region.
During its press conference on September 4, 2025, Ms. Pamela G. Pabit, Midwife VI of the Family Health Cluster, emphasized the importance of family planning in safeguarding the health and well-being of mothers and families.
According to the latest data from the Family Planning Program, as of 2024, a total of 478,179 Bicolanos have adopted family planning practices. The top three most commonly used family planning methods are oral contraceptive (COC) pills, implants, and injectables.
In line with the upcoming World Contraception Day on September 26, the department also calls on the public to support efforts to raise awareness about responsible family planning and reproductive health.
Interested families or individuals may visit the nearest rural health unit for proper counseling, guidance, and assessment.
