Iriga City Division bannered by the RNTVS selection defeated a hard-fighting Sorsogon Province team,58-50 for its opening game victory in the Boys Basketball Secondary at Ibalong Centrum for Recreation.

The boys of Head Coach Joel Arroyo started the game strong behind the hot hands of burly forward Jobert Marcelo, who uncorked a game-high four three-pointers. The team erected a huge sixteen point margin, 44-28 during the second quarter. A spirited rally however by the Prieto Diaz NHS cagers trimmed the lead to two, 46-44 entering the crucial stage of the match.

Ryan Ganahan restored things in order as he put on a dazzling array of shots against the phalanx of Sorsogon defense to finally put the game at hand. Ganahan and Marcelo paced the victors with 14 points apiece.

“Magandang simula Yung panalong to and hope masustain bukas as we go up against either Naga or Legazpi,” quipped Sir Arroyo after the intense battle.
