Teenagers and senior citizens are now allowed to complete their Step 2 Registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
PSA said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) allowed minors aged 15 to 17 and seniors aged 65 years and over to troop to PSA registration centers.
The IATF issued Resolution No. 114 that recognized the PhilSys registration as an essential government service in support of vaccine deployment.
“The IATF allows individuals 15 to 17 years old, and above 65 years old to leave their residence for the purpose of proceeding to registration centers of the PSA for the PhilSys Step 2 Registration,” the resolution read.
However, PSA noted that the public is advised to strictly adhere to health and safety protocols from the IATF to protect themselves and the registration staff during their stay at registration centers. Minors should also be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Step 2 Registration involves capturing the biometric information and validation of the documents of registrants.
PSA said it also opened more registration centers for Step 2 online appointment booking. As of July 2021, registrants may book their appointment at any of the 415 registration centers across 78 provinces nationwide.
Earlier, the PSA reported that as of July 9 this year, a total of 37.7 million Filipinos have registered for Step 1 of the National ID through house-to-house and online collection of demographics.
For Step 2, PSA said a total of 17.31 million registrants have completed the process across 81 provinces.
PSA added that as part of Step 2, some 4.54 million of registrants applied for an account with the Land Bank of the Philippines, which co-locates in the registration center
Step 3, which is the receipt of national ID card, PSA said, has accomplished the successful delivery of 397,564 PhilID cards.
