Be informed that at about 7:45 PM of January 7, 2021, personnel of Dapitan City Police Station (CPS) received a report from a concerned citizen that there was a hacking incident at Sitio Yabo, Brgy. Ilaya, Dapitan City wherein the victim was identified as Ernie Caingcoy Olais, 33 years old, male, single, a resident of the said place and the suspect was identified as Libert Rendon, legal age, male, married and a resident of Brgy. Polo, Dapitan City.
Initial investigation conducted disclosed that prior to the incident, the victim and the suspect were having a drinking session at the residence of Luciano Acorin Tuwage that resulted to a fistfight. After which, the victim went home and returned at about 6:30 PM to reconcile with the suspect but the suspect got a bolo and hacked the victim several times hitting on his right eyebrow, left shoulder and right thumb.
After the incident, the suspect fled to unknown direction.
The victim was brought to Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital for medication while PNP personnel of Dapitan CPS are now conducting follow-up operation for the possible arrest of the suspect.
