A military spokesman said last Sunday that at least 30 military camps and health facilities will be used by the government when it rolls out its vaccination activities around the country.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Major Gen. Edgard A. Arevalo said the facilities are strategically settled across the country and have been inspected and approved by the Department of Health.

“We have recommended 46 vaccine sites all over the Philippines; the AFP recommended those. The number is composed of camps and military treatment facilities,” Arevalo said.

“Out of that number, 30 are already DOH-accredited and can be used as vaccine sites. The remaining 16 is subject to DOH inspection and, when they passed, subsequent accreditation,” he added.

Arevalo said the use of military camps and facilities in the massive vaccination activities of the government was a part of the AFP’s support to the nationwide Covid-19 response.

The military has also been tapped to provide support operations to the program, including in the areas of security, medical and logistics.

“We will support the Philippine National Police in the aspect of security in the delivery, transportation and cold storage (of vaccines) in case it needs it,” Arevalo said.
