President Rodrigo R. Duterte called on local government units (LGU) to ensure people complete two doses of Covid-19 vaccines.

This amid reports that some of those who got their initial jab of Covid-19 vaccines have yet to get their second dose, which serves as a booster shot.

“Kindly help us ferret out the persons who have not received the second booster until now,” Duterte said during his public address last Monday evening.

He expressed concern over “incomplete” vaccinations since it offers no full protection from Covid-19.

Currently, all the Covid-19 vaccines being administered by the government requires two doses among its recipients to ensure they will not succumb from the infection.

“Please find time to go back and line there–line up and show your card so that they would know that you are receiving the second dose, that will serve as the booster [shot],” Duterte said addressing those with incomplete Covid-19 jabs.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III assured those who missed their scheduled second dose will still be accommodated by their respective LGUs.

He noted this in consideration that some of those who unable to get their second dose, did so because of involuntary reasons such as getting sick or having a family emergency.

As of June 6, 2021, the government already administered 4.3 million Covid-19 vaccines doses to qualified beneficiaries.

Of the said recipients, only 1.5 million got their second dose, which is usually given over a week after the first shot.
